Hello,

I just managed to get access to my SQLite groupware.db via ODBC.

What I now want to do is to update a public folder with all of our employees which are maintained in an oracle-DB. How do I wipe the public folder every night and import all contacts from the oracle-db?
Maybe there is any chance using tool.exe?
Would be no problem to export the required data from oracle to a csv-file containing:

- Company
- Title
- Suffix
- FirstName
- SurName
- Department
- Email1
- PhoneNumber

I have in mind a scheduled task which does the trick every 24hs.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help/suggestions.

Kind regards

TSCH

Hello, Tsch

Let me try to better understand... The way global address books work is usually based on the userbase in IceWarp server itself. You can use Oracle for the Groupware database and account storage.

Anyways, you create a group account, for example, and define the members. For example the entire domain as a member and mark the checkbox to create contacts from the members. It will auto sync all your domain's email accounts to the address book. Each user has to sign up to the public folder in Webmail pro (in Options).

So it seems the emails you want to put in your global address book are not the ones in your IceWarp account database? You want to import users from some other database into a public folder, is that it?

If so, one way would be to export your Oracle DB and then put the content inside the text file that contains the members of the group account (in a group account click in members tab, then click on Text file button). It seems this info is in the text file, not the DB, if it was in the DB youd have to figure out the DB structure, etc. and put the data in there.

Anyways, the group account only accepts and only makes sense if you have Merak users in it, so they can log to webmail, see the global address book, etc. One idea would be for you to use AD or LDAP and keep in Merak the userbase that you want to create global address book for.

Please detail more, not sure I understood exactly what you want.

regards,
Marcio

Good morning marciohumpris,

and thanks for your reply.

We have a lot of E-Mail-Accounts from LAN-printers/Scanners.... which we don't want to have in a public folder with all our company-contacts. Also we have some more detailed information like company/department/Phone... we want to have in a public contact-folder and which we only have in our oracle-db.

I don't want to use Oracle as db for merak-accounts but SQLite (on the merak-server).

It's not th problem to export the db from oracle to a txt-file but 'importing" this txt-file to merak every night. How can I wipe all (old) contacts from the public folder sa-contacts an afterwards import them from the previously exported txt-file from oracle?
That's my problem.

I hope you can help.

Hi, Tsch

The way it works, AFAIK is via group accounts. You set up the members of a group account and check the box to create public folder. You can add the entire domain as a member, which makes it easier, as it auto updates the contacts, for example (if you mark option to create contacts from members). In your case, you could add the domain as a members and maybe set these other accounts as read only, they would still have access. I see no way of excluding specific users from a group account where you defined the entire domain as a member... Other way out which is not friendly, of course, is to set each user you want to be part of the global address book manually.

I dont see a way to import users into the global address book.

I would suggest you check with support. Please keep us posted here with what they reply. Remember IceWarp is doing some major changes to GroupWare, so I think its the time to confirm with them if such feature doesnt work and possibly they can find some solution for the next version...

Maybe some type of AD integration would also be nice, but I dont think that's available... Maybe if you use AD authentication for accounts and set them up in a group account, but still I think it wouldnt bring info like company name, department, etc... And its note quite what you want.

Sorry, better to check with support and if possible keep us posted here.

regards,
Marcio
