Hi
I am trying to change a POP3 account to an IMAP for all home workers. They also have mobile phones with email function and I would like to synchronize emails kept on the server with their laptops and mobiles. I have successfully set up IMAP account on a laptop (Outlook 2000) and mobile phone so every time I delete an email on a laptop its has been deleted on the mobile phone automatically (which is great). My question is how to synchronize the old PST file (with all emails and subfolders) with the new IMAP account so I could synchronize everything (sent items, deleted items etc.) not only INBOX folder. Is it any way to do it? Do I need to set up my Outlook 2000 in a different way? I mean should I use a Mail services (like an exchange server) instead of email only? If yes, how to do it? I’ve tried this way but I can’t connect to Merak server at all. Any idea how to do it?

For outlook you will have to add a new IMAP store to the profile.  You could then import or drag & drop the messages into the IMAP store from outlook.

Different versions of Outlook address sent items, drafts, & deleted items folder differently.  In most cases, you have to create a rule to move the items to the correct store.  I believe that the newer versions of OL can/will sync these folders with the IMAP server.

Hi, Boski

I believe so, check if your IMAP client has the possibility to define the name of the Sent items folder, in Webmail theres an option (inside users option) to define the name of sent items folder, so it can be in sync with the name on the email client.

Marcio

Hi Marcio,
Thanks for a good advice. Also, I've found an option in my mobile phone to send a copy of each sent email to my own account, then I have created a rule in Outlook to move all messages received from my own account to Sent items folder. Job is done - I've gor fully synchronized Inbox and Sent items. Thanks very much
