Is there a way to stop Merak from forcing User IDs and Domain names to all lower case?  I use mixed/proper case ALOT as it makes it easier to find things in long lists.  (Not to mention that it looks much better from a PR perspective if a business card shows names using proper case in web IDs)

Earlier versions of Merak didn't do this, but it seems 9.4.2 does.  (I had  disk crash over the summer, and had to reinstall everything.)  I'm getting ready to upgrade to 10.x, and wonder if I'll have the same nonsense to deal with.

I agree wholeheartedly!

I also use mixed case, which improves readability quite a bit. Managing accounts has become more difficult since Merak stopped supporting this.

Their claim is that upper case characters are not supported as part of the smtp standard, but I don't accept that. There's no reason Merak couldn't support upper case characters within the admin interface, and simply convert it all to lowercase when actually interfacing with other servers.

I second your vote to have them restore upper case support!

Guys,

Maybe add this as a feature request. Do other products like comepetitors permit low/high case? Maybe it can help to know, maybe they can enable this via API or something.

regards

I think it's ludicrous to add it as a feature request, given that Merak used to be able to do this for most of it's existence.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not adding a new feature, it's fixing what they broke.

Hi, Skellington

Sorry, I hadnt noticed, just trying to help as much as I can. I see that this was something that already existed. Then for sure, it has to be fixed :) I agree, would be important to support high/low letters.

Did you ask Icewarp about this?

Regards

Yes. They effectively brushed the issue off. More people need to complain about it, if we're going to get them to do anything.

Hi, Skellington

Strange, I tested on my 10.0.7 and it seems to recognize low/high letters.

I put pwd as abC123

tool display account showed it correctly and Im only able to log to webmail with high caps C.

So it seems done in the latest version.

Regards

No, we're talking about user names, not passwords.
