Merak version 9.1.0:  I have been having an issue for some time, where the web/control service does not restart.  This occurs when I reboot the computer (for automatic updates, for example).  All the other services start, but the web/control does not.  I can start it manually from Merak, and it works fine.  It just won't start on its own automatically.  Other than that, the process works fine.  Any ideas? Thanks!

I have the same problem, but with all icewarp services.

I was able to get it to start on bootup only if i import a older config

You could configure a "net start ServiceName" on computer bootup in local policys, until support can help

I have traacked down the cause of the services not starting on bootup - atleast for my case.

I disabled SQL based loging inside icewarp and went back to file based logs and they startup correctly.

Groupware fails to start up, but service watchdog starts it automaticly after 1 min. .. seems service watchdog runs under the web/control service.

Also works if you tell sql based logging to log everything but web and control .. that way web/control service starts on boot, and it will start the other services via watchdog.

I tried that - it still does not work.  I'm guessing that there is something about the boot process, or the web/control tasks that do not allow the service to start until after the computer has been on for a certain amount of time.

Hi, guys

Logging to DB seems to not be recommended due to processing. Check out Log analyser that comes with 9.3.2, it puts logs into a DB nightly, really nice.

About services not starting, check event viewer, check your control and error logs. Check in Windows services if the service is installed and set to auto startup and running under a valid user or local system. Try to rename control.exe and other executables and reinstall Merak (upgrade to latest version).

If it doesnt work, Id suggest you contact support, for sure this is not normal behaviour, doesnt happen in any of our servers. Ive seen this once be caused due to some Windows issue.

regards,
Marcio

Can you post the recommended SQL solution?

Ji, JD

You mean what Bilbus said? I believe he simply disabled ODBC logging which is processor intesive. I would do the same if you have it on, its in System/Logging, checkbox Active in database. Instead, Id use IceWarp Log Analyser which puts all logs to a DB late nite.

Marcio
