View Full Version : SMTP Access Block for Particular User account

We are using the latest version of Icewarp Merak email server - 10.4.0 and we have been facing the difficulty in stopping the users in sending the emails i.e unable to block the users SMTP access in the server.

We have tried the options suggested in some forums by disabling SMTP service of a particular user and also configure some rules to stop the outgoing email access of the user but nothing helped us in stopping the outgoing email access of the user.

Could you please suggest an possible solution?

Sorry, not sure I understood the goal here. Legit users, not let them send email? Or are you trying to stop some spam abuse? What happens exactly? Pls detail...

Disabling SMTP in policies tab should not let them send emails...

If youre having abuse problems, usually best is to change user's pwd and analyse to discover why the abuse happened, probably they have a virus or something that sends spam or their account is being used by 3rd party (you can check the IP in the server session). There are many tips in the forum and FAQs on how to deal with abuse, have per day limits to send out mail per user, hard pwds, disable pop before SMTP and avoid trusted IPs and so on.

You can also always disable an account in terms of log in (in account settings) but the account continues receiving mail.

We found an alternate way for stopping the outgoing smtp access of particular email account in icewarp instead of disabling SMTP services of particular user account which was not actually working as informed in the forums.
