TSCH -> How export contacts to public folder ? (8/18/2008 11:46:50 PM)

Hello,

we want to use a public folder in the future containing all contacts of our employees.
There's allready a employee-DB in Oracle with all the data (and more) I need. These contacts are maintained via Access as frontend. This means that we have two options to export the data from, Oracle or Access.

Which way would you recommend to export contact data into a public folder and how exactly do I have to do this?
We want to update the public folder every night automatically.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi, TSCH

From what I know, the global address books are done via Group accounts in Merak. You create a group account and mark the checkbox to create contacts automatically from it. You can put an entire domain as the member so it auto updates the contacts if a user is deleted or added. Then each user signs up for the public folder inside Options in Webmail pro...

So you might want to do this the way IceWarp server works... Note that the group accounts use a text file where the members are stored (check the button Edit text file) inside members tab of a group account... So maybe if you really need to use your existing DB you could find some way to export data and save it in this text file. Also theres a Groupware API, not sure if it would be possible to do something with it or editing the DB directly, would have to check with support, as the members are stored in a text file and I believe afterwords added to the Gware DB.

Regards,
Marcio

if you use a sql db for groupware, couldn't you just just import it or use odbc to get it in?
