SteveKA -> Outbound Mail not queued, Backup Domain (9/11/2008 8:20:26 AM)

[8|]Hi

One of my customers exchange servers went down for 2 hours, and when it was restarted, all mail for that period seems to be lost, using 9.2.1, setup as a backup domain to Exchange server.
SMTP Service---Delivery----
Undeliverable = 10 days
Warning after = 2 hours
Bounce back messages = all

SMTP Log shows mail recieved for delivery, then the message below for all delivery attempts, but no mail queued or delivered after remote server was restarted? also no bounced messages or undeliverable notifications?

1 2065 00:00:00 INCOMPLETE-SESSION PQO89054
SYSTEM [164C] 08:18:16 Client session Disconnected

Any ideas please, could any other setting cause this to happen??

Hi, Steve

More evidences are needed, complete logs, etc. maybe open a support ticket or send access to your box and try to simulate the problem.

It seems Merak is unable to exchange to the Exchange server and keeps getting disconnected (try via telnet inside the box). If Merak doesnt get a fatal error it keeps trying to send according to delivery intervals in Mail Service/SMTP Service/Delivery Settings. Also check in backup domain there are settings to verify if accounts exist before sending them to main box (RCPT or VRFY).

regards,
Marcio

Hi Marcio

Thanks for your response, we have been servicing this client for several years, the client had some maintenance work done, so we knew the server was going to be down, but fully exected Merak to queue messages until it was restarted, with regards to (RCPT or VRFY) whats the best option VRFY or RCPT TO? would this cause mail not to queue!

Kind regards
Steve
